I've been researching fibromyalgia for years. At my center in east Denver I've helped hundreds of people with this debilitating condition get outstanding results even when other doctors were unable to help them.

If you've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, or suspect you may have it, read this entire article very carefully right now. You'll learn about the symptoms of this painful condition and what you can do to help yourself.

Even though fibromyalgia affects over 3 million Americans, many doctors fail to recognize the symptoms associated with it. Check this list to see if you have fibromyalgia, especially if you feel that doctors did not really listen to or understand your symptoms in the past.

Do You Have?
  • Wide Spread Pain?
  • Feel Fatigued and Tired?
  • Awaken Groggy?
  • Bowel or Bladder Problems?
  • Mood Swings?
  • Nervousness?
  • Painful Menstruation?
  • Anxiety?
  • Depression?
If you have some or all of these conditions you may have fibromyalgia (only a doctor can tell for sure).

This is a legitimate condition that is recognized by doctors and scientists. If in the past doctors have not taken you seriously or implied you are a "hypochondriac", "hysterical", etc. don't give up hope! There is a lot that can and should be done to help you.

Self-Care for Fibromyalgia

The most important thing you can do is to exercise. This seems like the last thing anyone with fibromyalgia would want to do, but it helps a lot. Even if you feel "tired all the time" exercise will help you.

Even if you're tired you should exercise anyway. Your energy will come back to you if you'll do this. If you're sitting, reading this article, feeling tired, decide to do some exercise. "Do it anyway," even if you definitely don't feel like it. This is essential in getting well. You will get the energy after you start, but you must start.

Imagine there is a voice inside your head yelling "Do It Now!" "Do It Now!" Go for a bike ride, walk, swim, have some fun. Exercise for people with fibromyalgia energizes the system.
Exercise helps because it breaks the cycle of fatigue.

You must resist the temptation to blow off exercise.

Decide to do reasonable exercise without overdoing it at first. For example you could do a stretching routine, (if you don't have one, please call my center and we'll supply one free (303) 394-2273).

Another way to help yourself, is to eat right. Avoid sugary foods that spike your blood sugar and cause you to "crash" shortly afterwards. Eliminate the following: caffeine, sugar, bananas, honey, corn syrup, and dry fruit. Examine labels for: maltose, dextrose, sucrose (and anything with an "ose" in it, as these foods are sugars). Cut out molasses, maple syrup, rice syrup, white rice, corn starch, pasta, sweet wines, and fruit juice as they all break down easily in the body to form sugars.

Eat salads, a little meat if you like, or nuts and vegetables.

If you're struggling and need help call me, and I'll give you a free consultation without obligation. I will listen to you and we'll find a way to wellness. Don't give up hope even if you've been everywhere else and tried everything else.

Chiropractic Beats Fibromyalgia

In one study 23 fibromyalgia patients with chronic fatigue syndrome/fibromyalgia (five male, 18 female) who were from 11 to 76 years of age received chiropractic care. All 23 patients reported improvement and maintained their improvements after one year of follow-up.

Every patient reported that they were able to resume their normal activities including full-time work. The researchers wrote: "Improvement in symptoms of 92-100% was achieved in both these syndromes (fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome)."

In another study of 15 women with fibromyalgia who began chiropractic care, 60% (nine) reported at least a 50% reduction in their pain symptoms, less fatigue and improved sleep quality. The improvement in these three areas continued at one-month follow-up.

In a third chiropractic study published in The American Journal of Medicine, researchers found that 45.9% of people who had fibromyalgia and went to a chiropractor experienced moderate to great improvement. In the same chiropractic study, anti-depressant medication benefited only 36.3% of those studied and exercise was limited to a 31.8% rate of improvement. In another study 21 patients aged 25-70 received four weeks of chiropractic care and soft tissue stretching or passive stretching. All reported improved cervical and lumbar ranges of motion and decreased pain.
