We're going the Wrong Way
According to the World Health Organization, Japan is number one in health. The global healthy life expectancy rankings are as follows:
- Japan
- Australia
- France
- Sweden
- Spain
- Italy
- Greece
- Switzerland
- Monaco
- Andorra
What’s wrong with this list? We’re not on it. We’re not even in the top ten.
We’re paying more for healthcare than any other nation, and rank only 24th on the list of industrialized nations.
We’re going the wrong way.
According to Dr. Cristopher Murray, M.D., P.H.D., director of ‘the world health organization;’ “basically you die earlier and spend more time disabled if you are an American, rather than a member of most other advanced countries.”
Quick Fix Society
The problem is, we are a quick fix society. We want health and abundance right now, but we don’t want to do anything or change anything. Peoples’ attitudes are, “just fix me, if I have pain of any kind just drug the heck out of me, and if that doesn’t work, do surgery.”
Horrifying Facts
- The number of people having in hospital reactions to prescription medication is 2.2 million per year.
- The number of unnecessary medical and surgical procedures performed annually is 7.5 million
Most of Us Don’t Have a Plan
We fritter away our health. We only get motivated to change when we have excruciating pain, or no other choice. We only stay motivated if the pain is awful!
Getting Diagnostic Tests and Taking Drugs Doesn’t Make Us Healthier
According to Newsweek Magazine August 2011 article;
Many doctors don’t seem to be getting the message about useless and harmful health care. Medicare pays them more than $100 million a year for screening colonoscopies; some 40 percent are for people in whom they will almost certainly harm more than help. Arthroscopic knee surgery for osteoarthristis is performed about 650,000 times a year; studies show that it, too, is no more effective than placebo treatment, yet taxpayers and private insurers pay for it. And although several large studies, including the Occluded Artery Trial in 2006, have shown that inserting a stent to prop open a blocked artery more than 24 hours after a heart attack does not improve survival rates or reduce the risk of another coronary compared with drugs alone, the practice continues at a rate of 100,000 such procedures a year, estimate researchers led by Dr. Judith Hochman, a cardiologist at New York University. “We’re killing more people than we’re saving with these procedures,” says UT’s Goodwin. “It’s as simple as that.”
The Truth about Flu Vaccines
They only offer partial protection at best. They are developed before the flu strains are actually present.
Medicine hopes to provide coverage by giving a flu vaccine that’s virtually out of date before it’s released.
There are a lot of medical doctors who don’t get the vaccine and won’t give it to their families.
