Denver Chiropractor says “Diets Don’t Work, But This Does!”
Did you know scientists are studying people who successfully keep weight off? There is a study of those who have lost 30 or more pounds and kept them off for at least a year by the National Weight Loss Control Registry. Here is what they have in common;
- 90% Average an hour per day of exercise,
- 89% Used both diet and physical activity to lose weight,
- 78% Eat breakfast everyday,
- 75% Weigh themselves at least once a week and
- 62% Watch less than 10 hours a week of TV.
This is great news for those of us who would love to lose weight and keep it off. We can at least do the things that most people who lose weight do. Then we can drop the pounds and keep them off.
Only 10% were able to keep weight off with diet alone. Fewer still, (just 1%), managed to hold off the pounds just exercising. Doesn’t it make sense if you’re serious about losing weight and keeping it off to do both? Use diet and exercise.
Eating breakfast is a proven win for those who wish to stay lean. Research shows that you end up overeating later in the day if you don’t have breakfast.
Weighing yourself is also a very good idea. People who weigh themselves at the same time every day weigh the least. It creates an awareness that causes them to make better choices concerning diet and exercise. To keep the pounds off you should weigh yourself at least weekly.
Lastly, television packs on pounds. Whether it’s the inactivity associated with watching or the effect of being exposed to so many ads about fast foods etc… TV is a killer. The crowd that keeps the pounds off doesn’t watch much TV.
