New Olympic Record in Denver CO
New Olympic Record in Denver CO
Olympians always live up to their motto, “Citius, altius, fortius”, or “faster, higher, stronger”. It could be argued that in every Olympics for the last 3,000 years athletes have accomplished more! Even long standing records that experts agreed would “never be broken” are being smashed. But, how can it be? Is it better food, genetics, training methods or technology?
Or, is there something else?
Food
Olympians eat to win. Every morsel is regimented. Calories, foods, preparations, etc. are all controlled to insure each Olympian stands their best chance for victory. Whole grains, lean proteins, colorful fruits and vegetables are the rule. What athletes consume just before, during and after competition is especially scrutinized and tested well before the big event.
Genetics
Super champions are being born every day. With more women and events for them to compete in, the best athletes are having children who in many instances are physically gifted.
Training/Technology
Athletes perform better due to scientific training. Research journals are filled with experiments proving what works and disproving old theories that held back performance in the past. Consequently, coaching has improved.
Each and every work out and event is now measured electronically and compared to others. Programs are being scrutinized and fine-tuned like never before.
Equipment is being upgraded as well. Shoes, gloves, clubs, glasses, bicycles etc. are all scientifically evaluated and improved constantly. Doctors, computers, and engineers are working with advanced materials that allow todays athletes a technological advantage.
Advances In Health Care
There is a different kind of doctor at the Olympics. For decades now, Olympians have been enjoying the benefits of chiropractic. The best in every sport understand that chiropractic;
- Lessens or eliminates pain,
- Removes nerve pressure,
- Increases energy,
- Feels good,
- Improves posture and attitude,
- Allows more movement of the spine,
- Diminishes stress,
- Improves brain power with more blood flow to the brain,
- Maximizes potential for 100% health,
- Helps with balance,
- Improves outlook on life,
- Is drug free,
- Builds a stronger body,
- Boosts immunity and resistance to disease,
- Corrects the cause of health problems,
- Improves performance where it was previously limited,
- Raises level of concentration,
- Stops spinal decay and in some cases can reverse degeneration,
- Extends athletic careers,
- Increases focus on better health and feeling younger,
- Allows greater appreciation of body,
- Patients feel more relaxed because the body is working in greater harmony,
- Increases ability to work-out to full capacity ,
- Clients see less of ordinary doctors,
- Increases organ function,
- Helps one feel and stay more active throughout life,
- Athletes avoid dangerous drugs and surgery, and
- Helps people recover quickly after exertion.
It’s no wonder chiropractors have become the most popular doctors at the Olympics.
Are There Limits?
If there are limits, we have not reached them. As our knowledge of the human body and sports progresses, it will be a very long time till physical limitations stop further progress. A great Olympian, Muhammad Ali said it best; “the only limitations one has are the ones they place on themselves.” This year expect to see many old records fall as new “Olympic Records” are achieved.
